Thank you, VIVA! That is kind of you. Whenever I post a picture like this one, I wonder about how valid I am. Your words mean something and they mean something to me. Very much appreciated!

Richard, this is epic, visually, and descriptively........a splendid affirmation for all, all, all who are represented here, and their stories, lives, documented in this beautiful interior, so full of memories, artifacts of an amazing family's life history....Kudos, f.v.......VIVA ......It is an honour to be privy to this moment, their lives.....

Artist's Description

When he proposed to her, she said she wanted to be a kindergarten teacher. He replied, marry me and I'll give you your own kindergarten. They had 10 children, 5 boys and 5 girls. Now there are 6 siblings, 3 women and 3 men. Here we see the sisters gathered around her. They are reviewing life and decisions and memories. Her husband of 65 years never wanted to leave her but it couldn't be helped. Scattered about are books and remembrances of the children; toy soldiers, a smoke jumper, an electrician, two nurses, an oral surgeon, a son living in California, a photo album, butterflies and hearts. The Norwegian grandfather clock ticks at 12:34, Mom liked that time...1, 2, 3, 4 and it reminds us of of their lineage. The clock keeps on counting, over 30 grandchildren and over 30 great grandchildren. She is listening to her children but takes a peek at you, fascinated to be a part of the conversation.

It was 1994 and he had waited long enough. Now was the time he had to become what he should have been all along; he had to paint. Richard was completely self taught. He made an attempt to paint way back in 1978 but was so terrible he laid the brushes down. Then again in 1986 but oil paints were not for him. Then in 1994 he dipped his brush into acrylic paints and never looked back. When Richard Wandell painted he was inspired...
