Description
I made three trips to Miller Bluff and probably spent 10 hours up there with my 3' x 4' piece of hardboard, paints, brushes, water and cigars. I used an old two wheeler to haul everything through the rocky trail to the perch with a view. Grandad's Bluff is directly south and the view is stupendous. I started this in the spring of 2011 and finished in the fall. Most of the work was done in my studio but the fun was being on that bluff and having hikers (once in a while) surprise me on the trail you see as I painted. I even posed for a couple of photos of the unfinished work...very cool and so Monet of me. I wanted to paint it not as it looks today but before civilization came. I couldn't have done it without the cigars, the mosquitoes would have carried me away.
