My grandson wanted to do a painting with me and I asked him what he wanted to paint. He said he wanted to paint the desert. I told him he would need to have patience and that we wouldn't finish in one sitting. I saved what he did for the next time we paint together but I liked what we did and I continued painting my version. The only problem is, I have no idea what I did to finish this so when we paint again, I'm sure we will end up with something quite different from this.
My husband, the artist Richard Wandell, passed away on December 5, 2022. Following is his biography. “A painting is never really finished, you just stop painting.” Richard Wandell was awed by art and its magical beauty for a long time and one day, after many years of lying dormant, he began to paint. It was 1994 and he had waited long enough. Now was the time he had to become what he should have been all along; he had to paint. Richard was completely self taught. He made an attempt to paint way back in 1978 but was so terrible he laid the brushes down. Then again in 1986 but oil paints were not for him. Then in 1994 he dipped his brush into acrylic paints and never looked back. When Richard Wandell painted he was inspired...
