A mother receives bad news in the form of a letter read to her by one of her sons. There is nothing quite like the love of a mother. I borrowed this from Pieter de Hooch and his painting, Man Reading a Letter to a Woman. This is painted in an impressionistic style and I did move things around a little bit and changed this and that.
My husband, the artist Richard Wandell, passed away on December 5, 2022. Following is his biography. “A painting is never really finished, you just stop painting.” Richard Wandell was awed by art and its magical beauty for a long time and one day, after many years of lying dormant, he began to paint. It was 1994 and he had waited long enough. Now was the time he had to become what he should have been all along; he had to paint. Richard was completely self taught. He made an attempt to paint way back in 1978 but was so terrible he laid the brushes down. Then again in 1986 but oil paints were not for him.
