10 years ago I placed several paintings in a little coffee shop called The Painted Bean in Grafton, Wisconsin. This is the very first painting I ever sold, and I sold it out of that coffee shop. The sale tied me with van gogh for the most paintings sold during one's lifetime. After several years of futile attempts to find the woman that purchased this painting, I found her! She was kind enough to send me this photograph and I'm glad to say the painting appears to have stood the test of time. It was like finding a long lost friend.
My husband, the artist Richard Wandell, passed away on December 5, 2022. Following is his biography. “A painting is never really finished, you just stop painting.” Richard Wandell was awed by art and its magical beauty for a long time and one day, after many years of lying dormant, he began to paint. It was 1994 and he had waited long enough. Now was the time he had to become what he should have been all along; he had to paint. Richard was completely self taught. He made an attempt to paint way back in 1978 but was so terrible he laid the brushes down. Then again in 1986 but oil paints were not for him. Then in 1994 he dipped his brush into acrylic paints and never looked back. When Richard Wandell painted he was inspired...

So glad you had this image to repost. Enjoyed reading the history of this work in you description. This work goes deep in to the psyche. Color and that GREAT composition. That one rose bud pointing straight up. That suggested line it forms creating a square for the bigger part of the work. MMMMM so nice. F/L
