Description
It's Kentucky Derby time! And it coincides with my granddaughter Caroline Kate's first birthday party. The horse has the post position and across the top, in hand signals and sign language, it reads Love sweet C-K-B, her initials. I attended the 1987 Kentucky Derby when Alysheba won. gave the man $20 each to sit in the infield. That man had a wad of $20s that barely fit in his hand. No turnstile to count the people. I wonder if they counted the $20s to put an official number on attendees. Mint Juleps flowed; Kentucky Bourbon over ice and stick your nose in a mint sprig while you drink. Those horses move. Many in the infield were passed out by the time the derby ran. The two most exciting minutes in sports.
